ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT YOU WILL NEED TO
COMPLY WITH THE BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR SEISMIC BRACING OF
SUSPENDED NON-STRUCTURAL BUILDING COMPONENTS IS CONTAINED WITHIN
THIS MANUAL.
Our Manual contains easy to use summaries & tables of seismic
sway bracing requirements which have been condensed by the Authors
into as few as 2 pages for each different edition of all of the
Model Codes & Standards utilized throughout the United States
and most of the world, including:
- New Requirements and NEHRP Standard - Effective January 5, 1993,
under the amended provisions of Public Law 95-124 & 101-614
and Executive Order 12699, The National Earthquake Hazards Reduction
Program standards have become the minimum level of seismic protection
for all federal government construction as well as States and
Local Jurisdictions participating in Federal assistance programs
of financing, grants, loans or guaranteeing the financing through
loan or mortgage insurance programs.
- Model Building Codes - 2000, 2003, 2006 & 2009 IBC International
Building Codes, TI-809-4, UFGS, BOCA National Building Code, ICBO
Uniform Building Code, SBCCI Standard Building Code and the IBC
International Building Code.
- California Building Code & Title 24 of CCR ( OSHPD Code)
- special requirements for State owned/leased facilities, hospitals,
schools and similar occupancies are included.
- Tri-Services/Tri - Star Manuals - used to regulate Military
& Corps of Engineers construction throughout the United States
and abroad.
- NFPA-13 Automatic Sprinkler Systems - the most universally utilized
standard for fire sprinkler systems used throughout the United
States and elsewhere.
- Design & Installation Guidelines, Illustrations,
Answers and Solutions - the Manual contains documented information
on fastener values, spacing of braces and other specialized design
and installation concerns plus various details, illustrations,
specifications and pre-calculated Brace Selection Tables to assist
in cost effectively perfecting the design, approval and installation
process for Codes, Standards and Project Specifications. NOTE:
This includes the ASCE 7 requirements for Concrete Anchors
that have passed the ACI 318-02 Simulated Seismic Tests of ACI
355.2 and calculated brace spacing limitations to satisfy the
ASCE 7 requirements for displacement and strength for
Fire Protection and Hazardous Piping.
- Enlarged Seismic Zone/Av Activity Map for All Codes and Standards
- the Manual is accompanied by a 24" x 36" Color Coded
Seismic Map, based on the Building Seismic Safety Council Map
under the Earthquake Hazards Reduction Act. This Map has been
adapted to be applicable to all of the above Model Codes and Standards
and it identifies seismic Zones and Av Contour Lines by county
for the entire United States. The reverse side of the map has
the 0.2 sec. Spectral Response Acceleration (5% Critical Damping)
Site Class B Contour Map for determining the value Ss used in
the Fp formula to calculate the horizontal earthquake force.
